I finished up my spread in the last round of a mini-round robin with some of my flickerette pals! I had so much fun working in their books. I will have to find me another round robin soon....I really love collaborating on an altered book, except the part where I have to say "bye bye!". It definitely keeps me focussed having a project going. My book is done and at home. I look at it every other day. I just love it! I think the thing I love the best about altered books is all the "stuff/junk/doodads/embellishments" hanging off them. I feel like a little kid turning each page ever so slowly so I can drink in all the eye candy, color, words and fun. Yes, I'm a bit, ok, over the "altered" edge, but, hey, it keeps me out of trouble, ok, and there are "others" that also have the same addictions, so there....I am NOT alone!
On other (related) matters, I will be participating in the greenbeanbaby vintage christmas swap. I am fixin to get all my "stuff" together this week. fun fun. that way I can send off for the mid month "deadline".
I'll also be doing a postcard swap I found on flickr and signed up for on swapbot. Still trying to figure out all this stuff, but I work on one at a time, and boy is it fun!
Well, off I go. I'm off to see the wizard of oz (dorothy and toto are dressed up and ready for the halloween party today). Have a safe halloween and don't scare any little kiddies, OK?
Yes, it's a beautiful day outside today. My kids are all back at school, the house is empty. Chores await me, but I will try to see the beauty in the mess. Monday's is usually my day to clear out and get things in order. I find if I start early enough in the day I get more done. I also have been trying to get chores done quickly so I have more time for art. Hope you have a happy, artful, and beautiful day. I will be back soon when have finished "digging out" as my sis would say!
This collage was inspired by my daughter and her best friend Christine. They have been best friends since elementary school. They ended up going to different colleges. Well, this morning the doorbell rang, and there was Christine. She just came in last nite to visit for the weekend and she got up early to come see her "second momma!" She asked me if I saw the quote Maria had sent her, I said, no, and she told me, "With our friendship come's one guarantee, what happens to you, happens to me". aaaaawwww....they always joke about having a "double wedding" one day and marrying twins! They are so cute. Maria is coming home tomorrow as well and our "girls" will both be home, if only for the weekend. What a blessing their friendship has been to each other and how close it's brought our two families.
p.s. one of my best friends, Liz, came over one day and brought me some vintage photos for my art...I'm so glad it ended up in a friendship collage!
