It's been a while since I've put up a chance for a giveaway. I really want to thank all of you for visiting and for all your encouragement with my new painting adventure. I really think I am going to continue with it this time, thanks to you all!! I love the advice and tips too!! I treasure your words and wisdom!! I don't always get around to each one to thank you but please know that I do appreciate it! Having said that, I am putting up this little token of appreciation. This collaged (ATC) is made on the front of a vintage playing card. It's painted and then collaged by me, signed on the back.

This suprise package came at a perfect time! I just got back from the camping trip and checked my P.O. box today...There truly is "no place like home" as it says on the Red Shoes mailing label and this magnet is just very, very precious. a very generous and fun suprise awaited me in last saturday's mail!! a sweet AJG blog reader (who refers to herself as the Kansas blogette) sent me these goodies! My youngest reminded me that she picked "last time", so Leni picked today! I couldn't believe we didn't have an argument over who was going to pick. Wonder if she is feeling ok? Hmmm....So, I printed out the comments and Leni put them in this nice rose ceramic box and picked: Chantal!!! Leni announced (of course the youngest corrected her pronounciation, you know the youngest knows it all...). Thank you everyone for "playing" and I hope to do another drawing next month! Chantal, I will be getting your goodies to you soon and will contact you via email of course! On to other things, I've been fighting a cold all week and the cold is winning so I may be laying low for the next few days. Since I haven't been feeling my square-self, I've been working on these little collages on my lap desk late at night. I realized last nite that I am now doing most of my art later at night when things are quieter. I will get back in that "studio" of mine soon 'cause I wanna paint some pages for my Art Journal. P.S. I loved, loved, LOVED hearing about everyone's project wish list! I want to write them all out in a post soon! I thought I was the only one who had lots of things bouncing in her brain and that I was scarring you guys, but you all are right there with me with lots of dreams, ideas and creative desires to fill. I love it! Let's go get creative in 2007!!!!

New Month, New Goals and a Giveaway!

I can't believe the first month of the year is already gone! Wow, that was a whirlwind. I'm making a list of things I want to make and/or try out this month. Of course I have the usual "works in progress" like my art journal, etc. but there are a few other things I'd like to try. I finished the collage postcard I had on my blog a few days ago. I would really like to try some of these with fabric. I saw an awesome fabric postcard tutorial here. I also have my new years creative goals that I am working on. So many tempting and fun tutorials around in blog land, it's hard to resist trying something new? What are your creative goals for this month (or just this week?) Do you want to get started on an art journal, collage, or start working on that quilt you bought fabric for last year? What's that? You don't have any ideas? Go check out Whip Up then! They have all sorts of things going on over there! (There's a way cute little tutorial too on a soft doll...). Well, let me know in the comments section today. As a beginning of the month starter, I'm going to do another art give-away. I will print out the names and my youngest one's will randomly pick a name. I will announce the winner on my blog tomorrow morning (Friday, February 2, 2007). I will then email you for your address and get you your goodies. Sound fun? Oh, the prize? hmmm...I didn't mention that! You will get 3 of my little moo cards I showed earlier in the week (with my art on them), a little tiny collage ephemera pack to make an ATC or small collage, and a postcard of my "Create" collage also shown earlier this month. It has been a while since I did a little drawing, so I thought it would be fun to start off the month with a bang! xo Lia editor's note: My banner went wonky yesterday after I posted some pictures...I lost my sidebar and then got tired of tinkering with it, so I changed from a my custom banner to this one. "Mommy, you have mail again..."

I love hearing these words!!! I have been the center of attention when mail arrives at my home lately. The girls bustle about asking if they can open my surpise packages. I promptly swipe them away like a 2 year old and say, "no, they're MINE, meant for me to open!!!" (I used to let them open everything but I am more protective now). Ever since joining swaps and meeting art friends online, everyday mail has taken on a whole new meaning! Swapping brings lots of fun goodies in the mail, but there are also suprises! Several raks (random acts of kindness) have come my way lately-I feel very grateful not only for the suprises, but for the kind friendships I have found in this creative and supportive blogging community! So, ya Wanna see what I got???? The first package comes from my "cheeseland" blog sis Mary Ann. She sent a beautiful hand made tag wishing a Happy New Year. But what's more, she sent me some 1" SQUARES!!! She punched them out herself. There was a note enclosed that reads, "I punched these to feed your addiction!" Oh, what would I do without my art friends to enable me to continue my art obsessions?!!! I also received this beautiful hand made card wallet and scented heart below from another blog sis, Jude! It arrived with a gorgeous card as well. So...lovely! My blog sis's treat me good!!! Another heart warming and random gift came from one of my flickr friends, Dieuwertje aka the sparkle. She sent sparkly tinsel my way all the way from Germany after I posted about wanting tinsel like I had on my childhood tree! she also sent a lovely note, tea's (which I love) and chocolates! I was so touched by her kindness and it also brought back happy memories for me! And last but NOT least...I received yet another beautiful package from, Chantal! Chantal (I love saying her name!) sent me a packet of beautiful papers to also "cut into smaller squares!". I also love the very beautiful postcard I received and it is sitting on my desk. Thank you SO much Chantal!!! Thank you friends for brightening up my days and making me feel special. It means more to me than you could know! xxoo Lia

Since y'all liked the last drawing, I decided to hold a second one! This time I'm offering up a 4 x 4" (art squared) original collage by artjunkgrl (yours truly.lol). I hand painted the background and used vintage paper images/words.

Inspired by other bloggers holding "drawings" on their blogs, (and being a winner a few times..lucky me!) I decided to have a drawing this week for this original ATC I made this summer. It is mounted on heavy cardstock and comes in a sleeve. One of my "artjunk" creations with painted paper in the background.
