Dear Friends:
I've always been a believer in everyday is a new day. A fresh beginning. It doesn't matter what happened yesterday. Today is the first day of the rest of your life! Last night as I was driving home, I heard this song on the radio and I found it to be a metaphor for my journal writing. It's a song by Natasha Bedingfield entitled, "Unwritten". I love all the words, but particularly the parts about "today is where your book begins" and "the rest is still unwritten". It's never too late for a new beginning. It's never too late to start. Today is the day!
The wonderful lyrics are in the text below. I wanted to share some pics of how I work in my moleskine. It's always a work in progress, just like me. Some days I write in it. Somedays I just paint. Some days I paint over what I write and somedays I write over what I paint. It's all good. It's all fun.
"Unwritten"
I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
[Chrous:]
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Oh, oh, oh
I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
[Chrous:]
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions
[Chrous:]
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
