Dear Friends~
I wanted to share a few more fun projects I worked on while on vacation. We spent one week with family in Massachusetts (which was wonderful), and another in the throws of tropical storm fay in Ft. Lauderdale where my husband had to go on business. We tagged along as it was a week before school and we wanted to squeeze in a R and R before heading back.
My fave project was working on embellishing old jeans with my nieces. I was inspired to do this after taking my nieces to see the "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2". I turned the lovely attic room/a.k.a. guest suite into a art/craft studio. All you really need is a dollar store flannel back tablecloth to lay out and you are good to go. First I had the girls design or sketch their ideas for their jeans. I did splurge on some bead embellishments and such, but what turned out to be most popular was the least expensive: buttons and rhinestone beads. The pack of colorful buttons went a long way and the beads were fun to use for floral designs and such. I was amazed at their creativity! We had a blast. I also prefered the fabric markers to using puffy paints because that just get's too thick and smears easily. I also embroidered on my jeans by first drawing a design in pen. (see this below in earlier post).
Another craft I toted along was simply some embroidery thread, fabric and a small hoop. I don't know how to embroider "by the book", but I thought it would be fun to experiment while I was away. (I usually don't get around to doing much sewing and or embroidery but I have really been wanting to). It was easier doing this away from home because I wasn't distracted by paper and glue. lol.
Week two of our vacation brought lots of rainy days. I got out the paints and worked on sketching for my Suzi Blu class (see button of left sidebar for a link to that).
Last but not least, I started my 6th moleskine while I was there. Here is a peak inside. Again, I'm practicing eyes and faces from the SuziBlu online drawing class.
Ok, I think that's it for now. I have lots more cool scenic photos to share but I'm still getting organized! I'll be back with more soon! xoxo lia
