MaryAnn!& Halloween~

Dear Friends~
Where do I start? Ok...ok, MaryAnn has come back to visit me...all the way from "cheese-land". I am SO grateful to have her here! My fam. was a bit NUTS and Bolts today, but I'm hopin' they will leave us up to our own devices soon so that we can ARt up a storm!
MaryAnn arrived with lots of goodies and gifts in store. I was able to finish up my "halloween" wall with the lovely things she brought for me! I also participated in Lilia's (fleamarketstudio's) Vintage Halloween swap. Maria *(The Junk Drawer) blog, was my partner and she sent many lovely things, which I have included in this wall display (trick or trick sign, BOO framed piece (love, love), and much more!)
My "JJ" made the ornament on the right and Mar's gave me that "cuter than all get-out" guy on the left. Ohmygosh, there is lots more to report, and I "PROM" to do that soon. Today is Halloween, so I gotta go play party mom, and all that, but then it will be back to art as usual. Ohmygosh, I am SO excited about what lays ahead in the next two day of art mischief with my soul "sista" MaryAnn!!!!

Collage, Interrupted.

Dear Friends~
Here is another collage I started putting together when I was "supposed" to be working on another project. This is what happens when I sit down to clean my desk, and/or work on a project that is due, like in 5 minutes. I get interrupted by all the scraps and colors. I see a collage from the mix of things in my bin. This is my favorite way to store scraps and ephemera: in a loose, random, pile. It really get's my imagination working. Over time I've learned to accept the random manner in which I work. I must keep a list of deadlines on my desk to remind me of my obligations, but while I work, I am away in fairy land. This is a place I want to continue visiting, even if I get interrupted by reality. I can go back to my little world...nestled in scraps of magic and wonder, if only in my mind. xoxo Lia

New Groove on Art Junk~

Dear Friends~
I'm excited to share a new feature on my blog. I've started a photo album (top right) in which I will regularly post photos from my day-to-day projects. I've started this for a few reasons. One, it keeps my blog up to pace with my actual daily projects. Sometimes I feel like I can't catch up the blog with what I'm working on, so this is a way to instantly share and chronical my projects (for me and the 3 people interested in seeing it..you know who you are..I know who you are! lol!)
So, feel free to peek into snipets of my work space here. I've updated as much as I could find from this past month's work-in-progress. Many of these have not been posted on in my flickr album. I am hoping to post here more and on flickr less...all in an effort to perhaps simplify the process of sharing my art junk with my readers.
Ok, does that make sense? Sound like a plan? Check back and see what I'm up to anytime, I hope you like the new groove!

Home Work~

Dear Friends~
I'm back home again and completing lots of "projects"...here is the 'girl' I was workin' on in the previous post. I have lots more of my 'homework' to share with you. I'm thinking I will start an album of my day to day works-in-progress here on my blog. I don't care for flickr's new format, if for any other reason that I feel out of sorts when websites I use everyday decide to completely revamp what I've been used to for, oh, 3 years. You can't teach an old dog new tricks, especially this one... well, off I go to set up the new album where I'll post my in-the-studio work in progress (or is that mess-in-progress). Nevermind. You get the 'picture'. I hope so anyway...

sketching on the road..

I'm on the road again this weekend. I like keeping a sketchbook in the car for those "waiting" times. I like having something to do, especially during long car rides. Anyhow, I am very inspired by an article on sketching the world around you in this month's Cloth, Paper, Scissors issue entitled, "Being here" by Robin Olsen (although I can't seem to stop sketching Suzi dolls!). BTW, as we were driving north to see my daughter, we passed through New Jersey. The convo went something like this.

Me: (waving) throughout NJ ..."Hi Suzi Blu! Did you know Suzi Blu lives in NJ"?

Bruno: (deadpan) "Alot of people live in NJ."

Me: "I know...but I still want to wave hello!"

Bruno: "Ok, Hi Suzi Blu!"

(I continue to sketch with a smile on my face)...

Thanks SuziBlu for sharing your art with us, you given me something to smile about....even through the traffic and bumpy highways of NJ!
