Mixed-Media Supply makeover...

Dear Friends~

I was getting frustrated with managing all my different pens/marker for drawing class until I found this awesome organizer yesterday at Joanne's Fabric and Craft. Even better, I had a "coup" so it was only $5-ish. Now I have to find one long enough for my colored pencils.The brand is "artbin". I'm sure it's available online. I will look for a link if you are interested. I love that it's see-through and I can find things easily. I've said it before and I'll say it again...It doesn't take much to make this girl happy. Lol. Sorting Artjunk...

Dear Friends~
I've been a busy bee sorting my artjunk from the last few years! I've been layed up a bit due to my back problems again. In the meantime, I've been sorting boxes from my studio. I've set aside some original collages and I'll be listing them all week in my Etsy shop! I don't do this often, so if you are interested in something, go take a look.
I'll be back soon with more projects I have in the works! Hope you are having a relaxing weekend my friends!

p.s. You can still purchase a copy of CPS Studios October 2008 issue either at your local bookstore (I know Barnes & Noble and Michaels carries it), or order directly online from the publisher! There are lots of fabulous studios inside. Lots of inspiration for organizing, etc. I love seeing everyone's studio!! New Groove on Art Junk~

Dear Friends~
I'm excited to share a new feature on my blog. I've started a photo album (top right) in which I will regularly post photos from my day-to-day projects. I've started this for a few reasons. One, it keeps my blog up to pace with my actual daily projects. Sometimes I feel like I can't catch up the blog with what I'm working on, so this is a way to instantly share and chronical my projects (for me and the 3 people interested in seeing it..you know who you are..I know who you are! lol!)
So, feel free to peek into snipets of my work space here. I've updated as much as I could find from this past month's work-in-progress. Many of these have not been posted on in my flickr album. I am hoping to post here more and on flickr less...all in an effort to perhaps simplify the process of sharing my art junk with my readers.
Ok, does that make sense? Sound like a plan? Check back and see what I'm up to anytime, I hope you like the new groove!

My 'real' job.

Dear Friends~
I'm so behind in updating my blog that I have fallen out of my "groove". I don't really know where to start...as I said in the previous post, things have been hectic around here. I haven't had time to attend to my "real job" and that is making art and writing about it. Yes, that's what I said. My "real" job. I read over and over again in blogs and profile descriptions that "art" is what they do when they are not doing their "real" job. Like, "art" or crafting isn't a "real" job. Ok, so, I must admit, I do understand that everyone has to make a "living", and that artistic pursuits aren't always known for steady and reliable income. Still, I don't consider any time I spend doing it as "not real" or "not real important". I don't know why I got on this rant today...see, you never know with me! I tend to get a little sidetracked...but that's another story.

You see, the truth is, the *real* truth, is that my Mom, (who I love dearly by the way) is one of the people camped out on the "that's not a real job" fence. I suppose my rant is directed at her subtle, well-meaning comments she's made to me these last few weeks. I, of course, being the dutiful daughter, do not say a word when she says this to me. Should I just chalk it up to her giving me well-meaning advice or should I argue? Arguing with close-minded people has never been one my strong pursuits. In fact, if anything, I want to keep the peace.

So, there you go. A major mind dump of sorts. Now, on to the good stuff. I finally sat down last night and did some woodburning (which I love!) I haven't had a chance in nearly two weeks (which is why I probably have this pent up hostility!!!) But, anyhoo, here are the fruits of my labors last night. I have much, much more to share my friends. I need to take some time to regroup and rest perhaps. Then I will get back in my groove.
